The word 'home' has a
million and one different definitions to as many different people.
That's why at our
Portland c ampus we've
taken every effort to offer a varied selection
of
living situations. Each one individualized to the needs of our
residents.
We've come a long way since that first Odd Fellows
Home so many years ago. First of all, we're now a campus, not
a single home. After years of working with our residents, we
developed a unique, yet complete
facility. Allowing us to cater to the many
different health-care levels needed by today's seniors. All the while giving it a feel that's more like home. It's what we call the Holgate Center
Continuum of Care.
Friendship
Health Center
Friendship Health Center is built on the ideals of the unbreakable bond of
friendship. This100-bed facility contains both skilled and intermediate care. We
provide on-site rehabilitation readying our patients for their return to life
within their community. And with state-of-the-art equipment we can handle many
complex medical needs. There's also 24-hour nursing care and a full range of
social services and activities. Recovery empowers independence, which is always
our goal.

Odd Fellows
Retirement Home There are many happy homes at the Odd Fellows Retirement
facility. Ninety-nine apartment homes to be exact. Each one personalized to the
resident(s). They provide everything from retirement living to residential care.
Many of our residents just want affordable retirement living. The Odd Fellows
Retirement Home is the answer. It offers all the amenities of house living
without the tiresome maintenance and repairs that go along with owning property.
These spaciously designed and affordable Studio, One, and Two Bedroom Apartment
Homes are perfect for those who are ready to move beyond the burden of daily
chores and upkeep.
Some do need more than just a roof over their head. So we provide residential
care and accessible health care for those in need. This as well as three meals a
day, utilities, security, and maintenance are all included in one simple service
fee.

Activities/Programs
Like our
residents, lifelong hobbies thrive here at the Holgate Center. In the crafts
workshop we offer many classes to learn a new trade or just polish up on some
old skills. Bingo may be the game of choice, but there are always other games
and movies being played. And of course, family members are always encouraged to
join in the fun. Somehow it never takes long for them to feel right at home
here.
The health and wellness of our residents is essential. General fitness
evaluations are common, as well as education and supervision on exercise,
nutrition, health maintenance, and stress management. This is just one way we
ensure the psychological and social needs of our residents are being met.
History
Retirement means different things to different people. But to everyone it's a
great change in a daily routine. That's why since 1883 the Oregon Odd Fellows
Organization has been here, helping senior citizens transition into this new way
of life. We're committed to not only supporting them in this change, but to also
enriching the quality of their lives.
In 1897 the first Odd Fellows Home was opened. Now through extensive renovation
and expansion it's evolved into the Holgate Center. A full service campus where
the elderly of our region can receive the best possible care. The grounds
include the Friendship Health Center, and the Odd Fellows Retirement Community.
The Oregon Odd Fellows own and sponsor the Holgate Center. This unique community
continues the tradition started over 100 years ago. Offering the elderly the
most comprehensive health care available, promoting total physical, spiritual,
and emotional support. In short, we help individuals achieve their fullest
potential for recovery.
Through decades of friendship, love, and trust the Holgate Center continues in
the spirit of the original Odd Fellows Home. Walking hand-in-hand with seniors
who have retired, just not from life.
The Continuum of Care Philosophy
These day's mature adults face many more and much greater decisions than ever
before. The weight of these decisions can be quite stressful. Moreover today's
seniors are increasingly independent, active, and more financially savvy than
ever. It's all very confusing. The Holgate Center realizes this, and strives to
