Glisan Care Center is located in NE Portland just east of the Glisan St. exit off I-205. It is near the Gateway Shopping Center and Max Station and within minutes of three Portland hospitals. Glisan is a 100 bed skilled nursing facility with a transitional care unit for patients who are stable and no longer require hospitalization but who need an intensive program of rehabilitation and recovery. Assistance and support is provided by a team of care givers whose goal is to become a positive part of the residents’ daily lives – helping patients return home or assisting others in becoming as independent as possible. The facility also offers a specialized Alzheimer’s and dementia care unit. The unit’s atmosphere is designed not to overwhelm the residents but to add structure and familiarity to their lives. Each resident is unique in their needs and the staff takes great care to communicate and learn the activities and memories that add comfort to their day. A renovation of the facility was completed in early 1999. The room selection includes private, semi-private and 3 bedrooms. Several low cost retirement units are located on the second floor for residents who do not need nursing care. Meals and housekeeping services are included in the monthly rental fee.
